IMPRO THEATRE FOR SCIENCE

We use improvisational theater for scientists. Because we love fast thinking.

PROJECT

In the so-called TransImpro workshops, we used improvisational theater techniques to foster transdisciplinary science: the collaboration of scientists with non-scientific experts. Playful and creative we reflect on current research topics, such as artificial intelligence, climate change and public spaces. Using storytelling techniques, association exercises and trying out new roles, researchers from the Berlin University Alliance and practitioners from Berlin exchanged their perspectives. Together, they mapped out the topics and uncovered fields of action for Berlin. With a lot of fun, passion and professional expertise we discovered the foundations for transdisciplinary project development.

PARTNERS

TransImpro Workshop is a format developed together with the program #Berlinforschtmit of the Berlin University Alliance’s TD-Lab – Laboratory for Transdisciplinary Research.

#Berlinforschtmit is breaking new ground for knowledge exchange: New formats and methods of transdisciplinary co-exploration are being developed and tried out to improve the exchange between the sciences and society. New networks are being established between academia, politics, civil society, administration and the researchers of the Berlin University Alliance. In Berlin and for Berlin.

PORTFOLIO

In theory and practice: as a co-developer and on-site trainer of the TransImpro workshops I got involved into the theatrical foundations of the format as well as into the group dynamics of the various professionals. Therefore I worked together with integration experts of transdisciplinary research and built on my experience of impro theater over the years.

I really enjoy the results of fast thinking and joyful interaction. Do you have a group of (diverse) actors and what to bridge knowledge gaps or start a collaboration on a trustful basis? Within my portfolio, I offer adapted transimpro workshops to scientists, experts, business professionals or other groups – from beginners to advanced. Let’s awaken the potential of groups!
