We bring the untold stories to the stage. Because the audience is a shelter.

PROJECT

How can we get to know the stories of those who are hindered from telling them? Theater can bring the hidden stories on stage, to the audience, to the public. Within the project “Hidden Research” actors perform stories of researchers who are in exile or in danger and therefore cannot speak about their work themselves.

With means of documentary theater, we build on true stories and transform them into performances. That’s how we show personal experiences, but anonymously at the same time. Thus, we make theater function as an interface of hidden research to public discourses on academic freedom.

PARTNERS

Hidden Research” is a project by the Berlin Center of Global Engagement of the Berlin University Alliance that takes place within the “Science Year 2024: Freedom” of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research in Germany.

The theatrical performances are based on close cooperation with thematically relevant research projects from the humanities, social sciences and theater studies, structural projects in the field of science management at the Berlin University Alliance, and researchers concerned by conflicts on academic freedom.

PORTFOLIO

As the theater director within the project, I bring the leitmotifs of hidden research experiences in the form of dramaturgical dialogues to stage. Therefore I work on the concept of the performances, as well as on the implementation together with the scientific coordinator, the dramaturg, and the actors and finally the stage and costume designer.

Do you have a (hidden) story or an important topic that you want to bring to the stage as well? I am offering concept work and theater direction especially for public contexts. Have a look at my portfolio or let’s get in touch!
